This fall I’m keeping things pretty easy around here. Life is busy, and I’ve been craving the simplicity of nature. Sort of a ‘less is more’ mentality. Instead of running out to buy pumpkins and mums, I decided to walk around outside and see what nature had to offer. And nature never disappoints. Here’s a look at our simple fall decor this year.

Our summer was incredibly harsh this year, and we lost quite a few trees. Instead of just tossing the branches, I decided to bring them indoors to enjoy a little longer. This is seriously the easiest, most dramatic fall decor you can add. For maximum impact. I keep the branches as long as possible to make sure they reach all the way to the ceiling. No scrawny displays here!

Since it’s still too warm to light a fire, I’ve filled the fireplace with my diy velvet pumpkins and various gathered seed pods, grasses, branches, and flowers.

Fall Library Table
The library table is the first thing you see when you walk into our living room, so I try to change it out with the seasons. I normally will add a large branch in a ginger jar, but since it’s next to the fireplace, I kept things simpler.

I swapped out my usual blue lamps for these weathered gray ones. They were a bit short, so I up stacked them on box lids for a little extra height.

The vintage campaign chair was needlepointed by my great aunt, and I love bringing it out in the fall.

A few hurricanes with candles, some faux pears, and Axis deer antlers complete the look. Nothing crazy – the fireplace is busy enough!

Fall Coffee Table Decor
My husband doesn’t like a lot of ‘stuff’ on the coffee tables, but I couldn’t resist adding these vintage Fitz and Floyd Mallards from my parents’ wedding. I think it’s so funny that game birds are making a comeback. You can find all kinds of vintage bird decor either on Etsy or eBay.

A favorite childhood tick-tack-toe set and a candle and we’re good to go.

Fall Florals
I did make a quick fall arrangement using magnolia branches and some cedar tree root balls. It’s a pretty piece that adds lots of architectural interest without overwhelming the space.

Fall Desk Decor
The little vintage desk got a quick arrangement of Johnson Grass seed heads – who knew they were so pretty?

Candles and vintage matchbooks create a nostalgic display for this sweet spot.

You get a peek at the library from the living room, and it’s always so cozy in the fall. The zebra rug adds tons of pattern and movement to the space and I love the warmth it adds. In here, I just swapped out some florals and added a faux fur blanket to the back of the chair. Easy!

Fall Kitchen and Dining
I still love the fall kitchen decor from last year, so here is this cozy little corner by the stove. Simple and sentimental – perfect for the season.

Lamps add so much coziness to the kitchen, so I made a little simmer pot out of a candle warmer and rocks glass. Lemon+Rosemary+Mexican Vanilla+Peppercorns is my favorite combination.

I haven’t quite figured out what I’ll do on my dining table this year, but I’ll definitely add Eucalyptus branches to the chandelier again. I just love the way the orange leaves play off my blue and white plate wall.

A Simple Fall

Just tweaking a few things can really change how your room feels. Add in more textures and some candles and you’ve got a warm, cozy look. No need to go out and buy lots of plastic decor – head outside and see what you can find. Happy Fall Nesting, y’all!
