Lately, my husband has been hard at work clearing tons of cedar and brush from our property. It’s hard, messy work, but we’re enjoying the tidier appearance of things. Last week I was SHOCKED to look over and see a beautiful pear tree loaded with little pears! What a wonderful surprise! The previous owners must’ve planted it years ago and time eventually convered it up. It’s a little stunted and unbalanced, but nothing a good winter pruning can’t fix. In the meantime, I knew I needed to thin the smallest pears from each cluster to allow the larger ones to develop properly. I think they’re probably Bartelett or Anjou, but time will tell. Any ideas?

The pears are so tiny and cute that I hated to toss them. My wheels started turning on how I could enjoy them a bit longer and immediately thought of an all green summer tablescape. If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I love using fruit as a centerpiece! I also love green(it’s a perfect complement for our blue and white home), and the chartreuse pears look perfectly summery.

So, I took my trusty nippers outside and got to clipping. I added a few pear and oak branches, garlic blooms, rosemary, thyme, basil, ferns, monsteras and unopened ammi blooms. Basically, I just found a bunch of plants in various shades of green and mixed them all together. Easy!

Green Table Decor Details

The foundation of my summer tablescape is of course the striped tablecloth. I bought it last year at Walmart, but Amazon has some adorable options. Here are a few of my favorites – click the image for the link.
The plates are vintage and from the old grocery store Super S. Anyone remember them? I think it might’ve just been a small-town Texas chain. This summer tablescape is definitely a mix of high-low!

I bought the placemats years ago at a boutique, but these are very similar:
The silverware is vintage Besteck from my mom – definitely hand wash only!

The rocks glasses are vintage Rondo by Culver.

All Green Summer Tablescape

This summer tablescape shows you don’t have to have a grand plan to make a pretty place setting. Start with a color and build from there. I’m using several different shades of green, but they all work together to create a cohesive table. Don’t stress about making it perfect – let your creativity go and see where it takes you. Happy Growing(and Nesting!)!!
